The program was co-presented by Fran R. Cogen, MD, CDCES, Director of the Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex at Children’s National Medical Center, and Crystal Woodward, MPS, Director of Safe at School. An opportunity for questions and answers was offered at the end of the presentation. This program enabled participants to: Understand how federal and state laws protect students with diabetes Become familiar with 504 accommodations for students with diabetes including CDC’s recommendations for COVID-19 precautions at school Learn about the importance and utilization of written plans Understand your role as an advocate for your pediatric patients Be aware of resources, tools, and guidance to help secure needed service and accommodations for your patients
